The ski jump was most popular and was used for years by WSC, though some skiers said they closed their eyes when they went off the first time. It was reportedly made of wood cribbing and snow, was twenty meters long and was called the “Snow Job.” The slalom course was said to be almost too steep, especially for the children. Poles for the course came from nearby trees.
When the CF&I mine closed in 1952, the population of Crested Butte started to decline. Folks went down to Rozman Hill to ski instead.
